The Treatment Coverage Survey of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) project, implemented by the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Health, was conducted in four states across four geopolitical zones in Nigeria. It validated the reported treatment coverage and monitored wealth equity among beneficiaries of NTD interventions. The EquityTool was a valuable resource that facilitated planning and targeted interventions to ensure that the most vulnerable people were reached.

The learnings from the initial project will be used to further strengthen and improve the efficiency of NTD interventions, and the EquityTool is now an integral tool in the national program’s work in assessing NTD program performance. In addition, the standard operating procedure for conducting the coverage evaluation survey is under review to include use of the EquityTool.
