Are you on target? A tool to rapidly assess wealth to improve service delivery

Development programs prioritize serving the poor yet face challenges when trying to determine whether they are reaching their intended population. Join us to learn how a low-tech, scientifically-validated solution can help drive the greater inclusion of vulnerable individuals in your programs. In this hands-on session, we will introduce a free and easy-to-use tool helping program leaders get the real-time data they need to adjust and improve service deliver: the EquityTool. Developed collaboratively with researchers, implementers, and funders, the EquityTool uses a short survey based on the Demographic and Health Surveys to allow programs to compare the wealth quintiles of their respondents to the national or urban population in over 50 countries. Data collection for the equityTool is compatible with DHIS2, paper or computer-based survey instruments, or through a free web-based app, which automatically calculates and formats results into a simple, downloadable report. In addition to a live demonstration of the EquityTool, we will review case studies to illustrate how the EquityTool has empowered organizations to pivot their programs to more effectively serve their target populations. We will then invite participants to share their own experiences in how accurate beneficiary targeting and data (or a lack thereof) has affected program implementation.
